 How to enable file and print sharing in windows xp 

  1. Click start
  2. Then up to control panel
  3. Double click network connections
  4. Right click on your local network connection and choose properties
  5. Down the bottom there should be file and printer sharing for Microsoft networks
  6. Put a tick in the box 

Now as long as you’ve shared a printer or folder people on the same workgroup should be able to connect to you.

  1. Firstly click start then run (search Box in vista) type cmd
  2. You will have a black window (command Prompt) come up
  3. Type - ipconfig /all.
  4. you will have all kinds of info come up but the one your after is ipaddress (ipv4 address in Vista).
  5. Also default gateway is worth knowing this is the ip address of your router, handy to know if you need to configure it i.e firewall settings, connection settings ECT
